Rally for Human Rights!

A Rally for Human Rights will be held at 11:00 a.m. in conjunction with the Wreath Ceremony at the State Historical Marker, Exit 16, U.S. Highway 77/83. In light of current events, we believe it is imperative to speak out against policies and actions that threaten fundamental human rights.

We stand together in defense of equal justice, individual liberty, civil rights, and political freedom. The rights to life, due process, a fair trial, freedom from torture, and freedom of speech are the foundation of a democratic society and must never be taken for granted. We also affirm that every person deserves the opportunity to work, receive an education, obtain health care, and have access to safe, adequate housing.

History reminds us of the cost of silence. The denial of these rights helped usher in one of the darkest chapters in Texas history—La Matanza of 1915. We gather not only to honor its victims but also to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that such injustices are never repeated.

We rally so our voices will be heard by local, state, and federal leaders. Human rights require constant vigilance and active participation. Silence enables injustice. Democracy is not a spectator sport.
