A Rally for Human Rights is planned in conjunction with the Sixth Annual Caminata. Current events make it imperative for us to speak out against the denial of human rights by the Trump and Abbott administrations!
We must stand strong and rally for the equal protection of individual freedom, civil, and political rights from infringement by government! The right to life, freedom from torture, the right to due process and a fair trial, and freedom of speech are fundamental and must not be taken for granted. We must rally for a country that also provides us with the right to work, the right to an education, and the right to health care and adequate housing for all. The denial of such rights led to a dark historical period in the life of this nation which included La Matanza of 1915.
We rally to have our voices heard by the state and federal government because nowadays, our human rights are under attack. To be silent is to be complicit! Democracy is not a spectator sport!
